- To search for biologically active materials from natural sources.
- To isolate and purify active compounds from natural sources through solvent extraction, systematic fractionation, column chromatography, HPLC and synthesis of derivatives.
- To determine the chemical structure of isolated compounds using chemical and spectroscopic methods including NMR, MS, and IR.
- To develop the procedure for mass-production of active compounds through chemical synthesis, biological transformation, and to develop functional foods, drug materials, and functional cosmetics.
- To perform metabolites analysis of natural cells, target analysis, and metabolomics study using LC/MS, GC/MS, and LC/NMR. Finally to establish a network between metabolites and to construct systems biology in the living cells.
